memorial day

We headed to Wisconsin for the holiday weekend. Neither of us have much vacation at work yet so this was the perfect mini vacation for us. And Mason went on his first pontoon ride. He wasn't impressed with the life jacket and fussed for a bit...but then fell asleep and we were able to cruise around the lake and were out on the water for over an hour.

Mason also army crawled for the first time that weekend. Being a working mom, you have to accept the reality that you won't get to witness all the true firsts. Although daycare never tells me when he does something, I realize the odds are slim that he will experience many firsts at home with us around. However, all day Saturday he kept trying to crawl but couldn't quite figure it out. On Sunday, on his 8 month birthday, he army crawled for the first time and both Joe and I were there to witness it. Such a sweet moment that brought tears to my eyes. I was so incredibly proud of my baby, yet so incredibly sad at the same time...he's just growing too fast, right in front of my eyes and I can't do anything to slow it down.
