MONSTER weekend...

We had a HUGE weekend with 2 very BIG milestones reached! First at a little over 5 months, on Friday, March 2nd Mason ROLLED OVER! His daycare teacher was also able to catch this one on video for us :)

We also celebrated Dr Seuss' 108th birthday on Friday. I hope Mason has the same love for these books as I do...he might not have a choice since his room is Dr Seuss and we own most of his books! We were also lucky enough to have his Dr Seuss outfit fit...just barely though. I had bought this before he was born and planned for him to be able to wear it late spring/early summer since it's 9 MONTHS. The pants fit perfect, while the onesie barely snapped. What can I say, we have a thriving little boy :)

And most importantly, MASON SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT!!! This happened on Saturday night, I rocked him to sleep around 9:30pm and he didn't wake until 7:30am!! I woke up a few times in the night to check on him and I've been pumping around 2-3am to increase my supply, so I didn't get the full 10 hours but it was AWESOME to get at least 8 hours again! It's been a long time since I've had that. What was the trick that finally worked? Rice cereal, bath and nursing to sleep (in that order). We wanted to try again on Sunday night but he got SUPER fussy around 7pm so skipped it...and paid for it. He didn't sleep well that night and I ended up sleeping in the rocker for half the night. So last night, we attempted the rice cereal...he wanted nothing to do with it so we got out a syringe and tried to at least get some of it in his tummy and were only semi successful. Then we had bath time and I nursed him to sleep. This was about 10pm and we had to wake him at 6am to eat and get ready for daycare, so we had a SECOND success in the same week...SERIOUS progress. I know we are supposed to give milk first, then rice cereal...but at this point in his feeding transition, he falls asleep when he nurses so waking him up to eat cereal is not productive (or ever going to happen with this child...if he's sleeping, we only wake him if absolutely necessary). And he only gets cereal at bedtime at this point, so he's drinking milk the rest of the day and getting plenty of nutrients.

This is Shiloh's new favorite spot when Mason and I are in the rocker...she loves to be near him.
Happy Birthday Dr S!!!
