I've started to pump like I'm already back at work, so Mason eats from bottles during the day while I nurse at night since he still wakes up about every 3 hours. Our doctor said he should start to sleep through the night soon and that we should start not feeding him/changing him right away when he wakes up and try giving him the nook, rub his belly and then seeing if he can soothe himself back to sleep. If he didn't fall back asleep in 15-20 minutes, then we could feed/change him. So we tried that last week and it was the longest week of my life...every time he woke up, I would go into his room 7-8 times to put the nook back in or restart the music soother we have on his crib. And he never fell back asleep once...it actually woke him up so much it took over an hour to get him back to sleep after I fed and changed him. If you do the math, it equaled Laura being VERY sleep deprived. So last night I said screw it and I went back to changing and feeding him when he woke up...he woke up at 11pm, 3am and 6am...and went right back to sleep when I put him into his crib...and mom got MUCH more sleep this way. I guess I don't care at this point if this routine will keep him from sleeping through the night...I just know I can't function with the amount of sleep I got last week. And hopefully he will just learn to sleep longer on his own.
We had a busy week...on Wednesday, we went to lunch with my niece Brandy at Applebee's and he did great...he lasted 1.5 hours before he started to fuss but I was out the door anyways...here is a cute picture Brandy captured...I just love this picture!
On Thursday, we ventured into work to visit all my co-workers...he once again didn't fuss much at all. I was there for almost 2 hours and he was so well behaved. It was great to see everyone but also very weird to walk in there with a baby. Once we got home, he passed out on my lap while I was pumping:
Joe joined the 30 year old club on Sunday...I got him a DQ cake since he's not a fan of cake :) My brother came over to watch some of the Packer game and visit his favorite nephew.
