14w0d

How far along?  14w0d or 35% done, yikes!!
Total weight gain/loss: down 1 lb from last week, still up 4.5 lbs from bloat and my 1st tri carb overload :o/
Baby Size: Lemon!  He is 3.5 inches long and weights 1.5 ounces.
Baby Development: He can can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb. Hair is starting to grow over his body for warmth.
Best moment this week: Finishing my last full week of work before vacation, can't wait!!
Movement: None yet...I thought I felt something last week but I don't know for sure
Symptoms: Damn allergies flared up this week. I went into urgent care last night since I couldn't get a straight answer on whether Clairtin was safe from the nurses...all the clinics were full and my doctor was out today.  The UC doctor thinks it's just a cold...I still think it's allergies.
Food cravings: McDonald’s breakfast
Food aversions:  Onions, they make my stomach turn just thinking about them.  I used to LOVE them.
What I miss:  Jimmy John’s
Milestones: I officially entered 2nd Tri this past week, YAY!  Also looking forward to my 2nd OB visit on Tuesday.  It's just a measuring appointment but I get to hear the heartbeat again! Also today was the first day I couldn't button my pre-pregnancy jeans (just barely though) so I pulled out the Be Band and I was back in business.

It's been a miserable week for me...I had been feeling really well for the past few weeks but then this allergy/cold surfaced and made it really difficult to work and sleep.  I'm starting to feel a little better today, so hopefully this is the end of it.

Tomorrow morning I'm heading to a youth sale in Elk River with my SIL Melinda, they will have maternity and baby things for sale...I hope we can find some good deals. Sunday we are celebrating Easter over at Dick and Wanda's with the rest of Joe's family since we will be gone for actual Easter.  Then two days of work and we are officially on vacay!!

Have a great weekend!!

damn you tree pollen...

So I've never really had allergies...that is, until now. We had all the windows open in the house on Sunday, it was so stinking gorgeous out...and now I'm paying for it.  I've been absolutely miserable ever since. My nose has been plugged and running, my eyes are itchy and watery, and I'm sneezing non-stop (which if you've ever heard me sneeze before, you know how loud and obnoxious they are, so it's been super embarrassing at work to be sneezing every 15 minutes). My "approved" med list and my doctor's nurse both tell me benadryl is safe, so I gave it a whirl only because I'm so miserable...but it does nothing so I've stopped taking it since it serves no purpose and I don't want to risk hurting the baby with the drugs (even though I know it's safe, I'm just trying to be as drug free as possible). I guess it's supposed to rain tomorrow, I'm really hoping it brings some relief.  I did a little research online and it is not uncommon for pregnant woman to develop allergies during pregnancy, although they don't refer to it as an allergy because it's not a permanent thing. Ugh. I sure hope it's a one time deal, my chapped nose can't handle this every year.

We had a great weekend otherwise, we met my family at Champps in Woodbury on Saturday, it was so great to spend time with everyone. We also checked out a new store in Woodbury called Gordman's which reminds me of a TJ Maxx/Home Goods combo.  They have clothes, jewelry, furniture and home decor.  The prices are super reasonable too, definitely worth checking out!

Joe played cribbage on Sunday with his brother and I cleaned the house and watched my DVR shows that Joe doesn't like to watch. It's been my "catch up" time, which I'm starting to enjoy.  He's played the past few weeks and it sounds like they will continue it too.

Work has been insane lately. We are in the midst of our Q2 Forecast right now, which is always a long, frustrating process. Plus I'm on vacation starting next Wednesday so I'm trying to cram everything I need to get done before I leave all into the next four working days. So this new allergy development is not helping in the least, it makes me feel like I can't think fast enough and I'm moving in slow motion. But this vacation can't come soon enough for us, we are so ready for a break from everything!!

13w0d

Depending on where I look, I've officially entered the 2nd trimester today...or will in 3 more days. I've seen 12 weeks, 13 weeks and 13 weeks and 3 days all stated as the start of 2nd...either way, I'm 1/3 of the way there, woohoo!!

Pumpkin seed is a peach this week.  She is about 3 inches long (about the size of a medium shrimp) and weights just an ounce. Fingerprints have formed on her tiny fingertips, her veins and organs are clearly visible through her still-thin skin, and her body is starting to catch up with her head...which makes up just a third of her body size now. If pumpkin seed is a indeed a girl, she now has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. Also, her teeth and vocal cords are starting to form in her tiny little body and her intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to her tummy.

There really hasn't been a huge change from last week...what I love about this picture is I got both Shiloh and Joe in the picture without realizing it.  If you look closely, Joe made the photo last week too without trying.  And I promise I wear more than just sweats and t-shirts...I just need to remember to snap a picture before we take Shiloh for a walk in the evenings and I've put on workout clothes!

I'm feeling back to myself...almost too much!  It makes me a little nervous but I've read on the bump boards other woman are feeling the same as me...I don't feel pregnant right now, I just feel fat (even though I haven't gained any weight since my dr's appointment 2 weeks ago).  I know this is part of the deal...but when your clothes continue to get tighter and tighter...it's still hard to deal with, even when you are pregnant :(  I'm hoping to get some new clothes this weekend though, so I'm more comfortable and not constantly reminded throughout the day that my clothes don't fit like they used to.

We finalized our vacation details this week, so I'm getting super pumped.  We are really overdue for some time off and R&R.  It's been a year since I've had a week off.  I've taken days here and there since then...but we haven't taken a week off since our wedding and honeymoon last year.  I can feel it at work too, I've been crabby the past few months, I need some time away from that place!

I made the official announcement at work this week. I found sugar cookies at Target that had blue and pink frosting. I made a sign that said "What will it be...boy or girl?!?!" and left the cookies and sign out in our common area.  There are only a handful of us that are in child bearing years, so it didn't take people long to figure out who it was. Although a few people did think it was my co-worker that is getting married in November, LOL. They were right outside her office so they weren't sure...but most people knew who it was right away. And FWIW, pink won the contest (they were gone first)...so we'll see :)

Today was interesting at work with the potential government shutdown. There were lots of meetings and emails going around, preparing for the worst. Thankfully my contracts won't be affected (we are fully funded, so we can continue work as normal) but we do have some government owned facilities that might not be open on Monday (mine is company leased, so that doesn't effect me either). What stinks is if you aren't able to work, you are required to take PTO then. It will be interesting to hear tomorrow morning if they have shut down and what the ramifications will be, both for our country and my company.

We are meeting my parents and Jim & Lisa in Woodbury tomorrow for lunch for Jim's birthday.  I'm so excited to see my family. Then I'm going to check out Target and Motherhood Maternity to look for some summer clothes for our trip to Arizona and Vegas.  I don't think jeans and sweaters are going to cut it :)

Otherwise, we had a pretty quiet week.  Just glad it's finally the weekend! Hope you all have a great weekend! I hear it might reach 70 tomorrow, yay!!!

12w0d

As most of you have heard, we're having a baby!!! We are just thrilled and are so glad and relieved that everyone knows now...it's been torture trying to keep this a secret :) We got the BFP on February 10th, so it's been a long time coming. And here is my first post, with many more to come, on our baby's progress, who we call pumpkin seed (pronounced by mommy and daddy as punkin seed though).

This week pumpkin seed is the size of a plum or lime (depends on which website I use), is just over 2 inches long and weights half an ounce. The biggest develop of the week is his refluxes. His fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder. Nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and in his brain, synapses are forming furiously. His face looks unquestionably human: His eyes have moved from the sides to the front of his head, and his ears are right where they should be.

And here is my first belly pic...even though it is mostly bloat at this point. This was also after I just ate a huge dinner, so I blame most of it on that :)  The pants are keeping the bloat tucked in a little too :)  It does vary from night to night though...this one is actually quite mild to some of the other nights lately when I've looked after dinner, yikes!  I should start looking in the mornings instead, when I feel less bloated. I don't think my uterus has popped quite yet, which normally happens anywhere from 12-18 weeks.

I have been feeling a lot better in the past week or so. I had horrible morning sickness (throbbing headaches and nausea) constantly from weeks 5-9, with it gradually getting better and becoming more sporadic since then. I describe it as the worst hangover you can imagine that never goes away, no matter what you do. This week was the first time I haven't felt sick all week. I'm also able to eat again with out everything making me want to vomit. There haven't been any weird cravings yet, I'm just hungry all.the.time and very tired.  It doesn't take much to exhaust me these days. I've been falling asleep on the couch by 6:30/7:00 most nights after work. But I'm just a week away from 2nd trimester, where they say your energy comes back...I'm sure hoping so! I need to get back to the gym so I can keep the weight gain under control, it's been carb city for me lately, which is not good!

We heard the heartbeat last week, which was just amazing...that's when this started to feel real.  I still can't believe there is a little person growing inside me right now...I can't wait to feel him/her kick for the first time and be able to feel them moving around...I'm sure that is just awesome!

I also took advantage of my 30% off Gap coupon a few weeks ago and purchased some maternity pants for work. Although my regular pants are a little snug but still fit, maternity pants are simply AMAZING!!! I just might wear them from now on after the baby is born, LOL! Demi panel perfect trouser pant...what every pregnant woman should invest in, seriously! They are a little big on me now but probably won't be for long...and are pure heaven. And they look just like their normal perfect trousers, which I absolutely love.

Friday's will be my baby update days, so stay tuned for more each week :)
