a funny email...

I sent an email to my parents this morning wishing them a happy anniversary, they've been married for 31 years today!! CONGRATS Mom and Dad!

Anyways, it brought on a funny conversation between my Dad and I...I hope he doesn't mind me sharing it but it seriously made my laugh out loud during a meeting (and also terrify me at the same time!). Thank goodness I was on mute and it was during a teleconference meeting :)

Laura: Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad! Hope you have a wonderful day, can’t wait to see you both this weekend!

Dad: Thank you, it's been 31 years!  After the birth of our first child we knew our marriage could survive anything-LOL

Laura: I really hope our first is NOTHING like me…I know I was quite the stinker (probably an understatement, LOL)

Dad: They say the acorn does not fall far from the tree - so good luck!!!!

All I can think is oh boy...what have I got myself into?!?!? ;)

16w0d

How far along?  16w0d or 40%, woah!
Total weight gain/loss: Didn't even step on the scale this morning, after a week of vacation I'm too scared to see.
Baby Size: Avocado!  He is 4.5 inches long and weighs 3.5 ounces.
Baby Development: Tiny bones are forming in his ears, which means he can now pick up my voice.  Also eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in and taste buds are forming.
Best moment this week: Sleeping in my own bed and getting kisses from our puppy dog after being away for a week. There really is no place like home :)
Movement: Nothing yet, I hope I feel something soon though!
Symptoms: None.
Food cravings: Nothing in particular yet.
Food aversions: No new aversions this week.
What I miss: Real cough medicine.  I got a bad cough a few days ago and the "safe" med I bought does nothing, le sigh.
Milestones: We've hit 4 months already, woo hoo!!

There were no major changes this week...although the top part of my stomach is catching up to where my belly sticks out...not sure if it's fat collecting or if my organs are starting to get pushed upwards and then pushing out since they have no where else to go.

Besides the nasty cough, I'm feeling great. My energy is definitely back to normal, it's so nice to be awake when the sun actually sets now :)  I've had no major food cravings or aversions so far, which has made eating much easier and more enjoyable than it was during the 1st tri.  We also made the official announcement on Facebook this week...so now the entire world knows our exciting news!

We really had a wonderful vacation and it was much needed rest and relaxation...however, we both are happy to be home.  I plan to download pictures onto my computer over the weekend, so I'll do a full update then.

one year ago...

...was our wedding! It's so hard to believe how fast this past year has gone...that perfect day came and went with the blink of an eye. We had so much fun that day with all our family and friends, I wish we could do it all over again! But I guess that's why we have memories (and lots of photos and videos!) and I cherish them all so much.

It's been a good year for us, even though we had some bumps along the way. We faced things I never expected to face so early on in our marriage but we've made it through together and have become a lot more stronger and united when we surfaced on the other side of it all.

Even with the adversary of the recession and all that came with it for us this past year, we still have so much to be thankful for and MUCH brighter things to look forward to in our 2nd year. I know life only gets harder from here on out and that starting a family changes everything...but I have no doubt we'll make it through any obstacles this little peanut wants to throw our way as we start the next chapter. I am so excited yet completely terrified at the same time...but I know we'll find our way and we'll figure out how to be parents and how to juggle it all.

Cheers to a happy and healthy 2nd year JMP...and I thought I loved you then! :)

15w0d

How far along?  15w0d or 37.5% of the way there!
Total weight gain/loss: As of Tuesday, same as last week. After vacation will be a completely different story :o/
Baby Size: Naval Orange or Apple!  She is 4 inches long and 2.5 ounces.
Baby Development: She's busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she's likely to move away from the beam.
Best moment this week: One word...vacation!
Movement:
Nothing yet, although my doctor thinks we heard a kick while finding the HB this week.
Symptoms: I think I'm getting a cold, had a sore throat for the past two days...damn airplanes and their germs, ugh!
Food cravings: Nothing in particular yet.
Food aversions: We had Mexican for lunch and the rice that they served with my meal almost made me gag...so I guess rice is on the list now.
What I miss: Margarita...being on vacation in Arizona and eating out more than usual, makes me miss this delicious treat :(
Milestones: Pumpkin see had their first plane ride this week!

We are in a new location for this week's picture...but I still got Joe into the picture to continue our tradition, even though we are away from home :)

We are having a great time so far on vacation...will do a full update when we get back home late next week!  Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!
